Loy Instrument, Inc. was established in 1937 as a privately-owned organization serving the process control market. Our hands-on approach proved to be what our customers wanted back then, as well as today. Since that early beginning Loy has strived to understand the customer’s processes in order to recommend the best solution. A combined 500+ years of in-house process control/combustion experience gives our customers the benefit of working with a company that has been there, and done that. Loy knows and understands the engineering, processes, product quality, and service concerns of our customers.

The Loy Instrument Timeline

1937

Former Honeywell service man, Otto Kassatz, started the company.

1954

Paul Loy, an employee of Mr. Kassatz, purchased the company and named it Loy Instrument.

1957

Loy Instrument facility at 2111 North Kitley Ave was built in Indianapolis, IN.

1975​

Paul Loy sold the company to Ralph Litz and Eli Harnoy.

1983

Ralph Litz sold his shares to Wayne Mizer, Tim Sanders, and Kenny Smith.

1995

Kenny Smith sold his shares of the company.

1997

Eli Harnoy retired and sold his controlling interest to Wayne Mizer and Tim Sanders.

1997

Loy Instrument Fort Wayne, IN was opened.

1999

Loy Instrument Toledo, OH was opened.

2000

Wayne Mizer retired and Tim Sanders became sole owner.

2001

Loy Instrument moved to 8455 East 30th Street, Indianapolis, IN.

2002

Loy Instrument Cleveland, OH was opened.

2005​

A 6,000 sq. ft. fabrication shop was constructed.

2007​

Mark Phillips and Ken Bradway became partners.

2007​

Mark Phillips as President & Ken Bradway as Executive Vice President of Engineering

2007​

Tim Sanders became Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

2008

Loy Instrument partnered with Cleveland Electric Labs (CEL) and took over the CEL service group, expanding service in northern Ohio.

2012

Loy Instrument purchased B&B Instrument, expanding services in northern Indiana and Ohio.

2013

Jeff Burger became a partner and Vice President of Sales – Northern Ohio.

2015

Toledo, OH operations were consolidated into Fort Wayne, IN and Cleveland, OH.

2015

Brian Dailey became a partner and project manager.

2017

The Fort Wayne facility was torn down and replaced with a new state-of-the-art office on the same property.

2018

Tim Sanders and Mark Phillips retired.

2018

Ken Bradway became owner and President.

2018

Jeff Burger became Vice President of Sales & Marketing

2018

Brian Dailey became Vice President of Engineering

2019

Loy Instrument Cincinnati, OH was opened.

2020

KromAmericas was launched as the Honeywell Thermal Solutions / Kromschröder Master Distributor for the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
